Celebrate Together
The Best
Thing About
Easter
By Jerry Vogel
When my children
Were groWing up and as I have enjoyed Easter holidays with my grandchildren, one of my favorite books to read together has been The Best Thing About Easter by Christine Harder Tangvold. This delightful book celebrates all of the fun experiences that children have at Easter — the beauty of spring, Easter egg hunts, family time, and jelly beans. However, Ms. Tangvold is careful to communicate with children that as “fun” as each of these elements may be, the best thing about Easter is Jesus! I often have evaluated my family’s approach to Easter in the same light: We truly have enjoyed Easter baskets, egg hunts, egg toss games, and much more, but we always were careful to major on the true reason for Easter, the risen Lord!
Enjoy Easter as a family while focusing on Jesus — the true reason for Easter.
